Obama 2012

We don’t generally talk politics here. However, we want to point out a couple of positive aspects of yesterday’s elections; and these go directly to Mr. Romney and Mr. Obama. While political pundits on  both sides try and spread the negativity (mostly to increase their ratings), we take a more balanced, centrist, pragmatic view. After Obama was declared winner by all the networks, Mr. Romney gave a concession speech. In it, there were two segments that clearly stood out.

  • “This is a time of great challenges for America, and I pray that the president will be successful in guiding our nation.”
  • “I believe in America. I believe in the people of America. And I ran for office because I’m concerned about America. This election is over, but our principles endure. I believe that the principles upon which this nation was founded are the only sure guide to a resurgent economy and to renewed greatness.”

For his part, Mr. Obama’s speech also had several lines that inspire. Here are a couple that stood out.

  • “From George to Lenore to their son Mitt, the Romney family has chosen to give back to America through public service and that is the legacy that we honor and applaud tonight.”
  • “We believe in a generous America, in a compassionate America, in a tolerant America, open to the dreams of an immigrant’s daughter who studies in our schools and pledges to our flag.”

FORWARD!
